NAMUR has published an updated version of its recommendation NE021 which covers "Electromagnetic Compatibility of Equipment for Industrial Processes and Laboratories " The paper defines practical requirements for determining the electromagnetic immunity of equipment used in automation and laboratory control systems in the process industry.
NAMUR Recommendation NE 021 specifies uniform EMC requirements for devices operating in defined EMC environments, based on the environmental classification provided in NE 098, and independent of existing product standards.
The recommendation has been completely revised and adapted to the technical conditions of the NAMUR member companies. Its foundations include national and international standards, additional NAMUR documents, as well as extensive operational experience. In addition, NE 021 describes special test procedures tailored to the process industry that do not have a direct reference to existing standards.
Topics related to the EMC behavior of specific measurement methods and interfaces are no longer part of NE 021 and are addressed separately in the AK Praxis document of Working Group AK 3.12.
