New Working Group to specify an I/O Device Profile for OPC UA Field eXchange
OPC Foundation - The OPC Foundation is pleased to announce the formation of a new working group to develop an I/O Device Profile for OPC UA and the extensions for the field level, named OPC UA FX (Field eXchange). The group aims to create a standardized profile for I/O devices used in industrial automation applications, allowing for seamless interoperability between controllers, such as PLC and DCS systems, and remote I/O devices, including modular I/Os.
OPC UA connects the industry to the Metaverse
OPC Foundation - The OPC Foundation is pleased to announce the completion and publication of its Metaverse work. After needs for a standardized Metaverse solution being raised by Dr. Holger Kenn, Microsoft, in October 2022 the Board of Directors of the OPC Foundation decided to establish a Working Group to ensure OPC UA is well suited for the Metaverse use-cases.
The OPC Foundation releases the OPC UA Field eXchange (UAFX) Specifications
OPC Foundation - The OPC Foundation (OPCF) announces that its Field Level Communications (FLC) Initiative has released the first set of OPC UA Field eXchange (UAFX) specifications, which lay the groundwork for using OPC UA at the field level. Four years in the making, these UAFX specifications have passed in-depth OPCF member reviews and extensive prototyping to ensure their implementations maintain cross-vendor interoperability.
