Pepperl+Fuchs is expanding its portfolio with the Smart-Ex 203—an industrial-grade 5G smartphone specially designed for use in Zone 2/22 and Div. 2 hazardous areas.1 Its proven Smart-Ex user interface, along with innovative features and extensions, makes it a valuable tool in both industrial and hazardous environments.

The Wi-Fi 6-enabled Smart-Ex 203 supports 52 frequency bands for use in global 5G and 4G networks. The dual SIM function with eSIM and Nano SIM simplifies switching between private and public networks (network switching and management). With 5G support, for example, precise object tracking becomes possible, which is a major advantage during maintenance work. When used in secure campus networks, companies can get the benefits of 5G technology while making sure no sensitive data leaks outside. The Smart-Ex 203 features an optimized, responsive fingerprint sensor for secure biometric authentication, while the Smart-Ex-typical user interface provides familiar functions. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with the innovative “Smart Call Handling” function, which enables intelligent call control via hand gestures: to accept an incoming call, the device is simply brought to the ear. Shaking the device rejects a call. To mute a call, the mobile device is tilted.

The high-resolution 48 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and the 16 MP front camera deliver outstanding image quality and Full HD video recordings. A new integrated interface supports the use of helpful accessories such as the SM-Ex S203 LR scanning module. This transforms the Smart-Ex 203 into a 1-D/2-D barcode scanner that is always at your fingertips.
