At LogiMAT 2025 SICK presented the Visionary-B Two smart 3D camera. The snapshot solution can be employed for the travel path, side and rear area monitoring of autonomous and manned transport systems in harsh outdoor conditions. Using stereoscopy, the camera detects obstacles in the direction of travel of a vehicle in high resolution.
Its 3D collision warning makes the Visionary-B Two an efficient assistance system, in particular for frequently maneuvering mobile machines. The rugged, vibration and shock resistant sensor design, the rated temperature range of -40 °C to + 60 °C as well as IP67 and IP69K enclosure rating make the Visionary-B Two smart 3D camera especially reliable in harsh application environments as well. The 3D camera also meets the application-relevant industrial standards and EMC requirements. The GigE Vision interface standard ensures greatest possible compatibility when integrating the Visionary-B Two into the hardware and software environments of OEMs and integrators. In addition, custom software solutions can be installed and programmed directly on the sensor.
Unwieldy mobile machines, in particular, make maneuvering and driving difficult because not all corners and points around the vehicle are visible. Help is at hand with the smart Visionary-B Two 3D camera from SICK and its options for precise and fast distance measurement, object detection and localization as well as environment perception. The 3D camera extends the company's image-processing portfolio to rear area monitoring.
As a 3D snapshot solution with up to 30 images per second and a resolution of 1,024 px x 576 px, the Visionary-B Two is capable of capturing vehicle environments precisely and in 3D detail by means of stereoscopy. Depending on the monitoring situation, the camera can switch between two field of view sizes: 130° x 105° or 90° x 60°° – both at the same high resolution.
The Visionary-B Two is characterized by its rugged design, which makes it ideal for use even in demanding outdoor conditions. The vibration and shock resistant sensor design, the rated temperature range of -40 °C to + 60 °C, and the IP67 and IP69K enclosure rating make the intelligent 3D camera especially reliable and durable. It also meets the applicable industrial standards and EMC requirements for mobile machines.
OEMs and integrators can easily integrate the Visionary-B Two into vehicle controllers and their in-house software solutions. This is thanks to the GigE Vision interface and the spare computing capacities in the sensor. These allow precise depth and color map calculations as well as the installation and execution of application-specific software programs.
